Against The Current have just released a new track for the League of Legends European Championship. The video for ‘Wildfire’ features championship casters Andrew ‘Vedius’ Day and Daniel ‘Drakos’.
This isn’t the first time that the New York natives have collaborated with the League of Legends team, following the release of ‘Legends Never Die’ and ‘Phoenix’ in 2017 and 2019 respectively. Vocalist Chrissy Constanza also collaborated with streaming giants Netflix last year to help a senior citizen learn to play the League of Legends game.
‘Wildfire’ is the first release for the group since ‘Weapon’ and ‘again&again’ from their fiesty fifth EP ‘Fever’ last year. The song features vocals from Andrew ‘Vedius’ Day and a rap verse from Daniel ‘Drakos’, which certainly takes the track to undeniable heights.
Constanza spoke of her experience working with the LEC saying ‘bringing Wildfire to life was a surreal experience from beginning to end,’ and that “shooting the video for Wildfire was one of the biggest productions we have ever been on’.
The LEC also commented on the collaboration; ‘The LEC team has had a lot of fun producing music videos in the past but to partner up with Chrissy and her band Against the Current was extra special for us. They’re so well known in the world of esports for their massive hit Legends Never Die, so to collaborate on a song with them was a bit of a ‘pinch me’ moment.’
Against The Current are also due to go out on tour around the UK and Europe later this year, starting in Brighton on the 31st March 2022.
