Avril Lavigne has just released her new single ‘Love It When You Hate Me’ featuring Blackbear.
The track dropped earlier today (January 14) and tells the story of Avril’s rocky relationship with her partner, singing ‘Don’t call me baby (Baby)’ / ‘I love it when you hate me’ / ‘I know it’s crazy (Crazy)’ / ‘I love it when you hate me’.
‘Love It When You Hate Me’ comes following the release of the anthemic ‘Bite Me’ in November 2021.
The new track is another fiery taster from her upcoming seventh studio album ‘Love Sux’, which is due for release on the 25th February 2022. It is said to feature even more collaborations from artists like Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Machine Gun Kelly, which is very exciting to say the least!
Avril spoke about the creation of ‘Love Sux’ saying ‘I really went back to what sounds I originally was influenced by at the beginning of my career (for this album). To the core, I’m a kid from a small town who listened to bands like Blink-182 and Green Day and NOFX in high school, and I tapped into that.’
‘It’s fast. It’s fun. It’s just pure rock & roll from front to back. There’s a lot of reflecting upon different relationships that I have gone through and where I’m at, and even though there’s songs about past love experiences that didn’t work out, I’m in such a good place in my life that it’s still just fun and feisty and light. I’m kind of poking fun at myself that I’ve gone through a lot in love.‘
Avril Lavigne is also set to tour the UK and Europe, starting in Amsterdam on the 26th February, before finishing in Brussels on the 31st March 2022. Get your tickets here!
