My Chemical Romance are back with a brand new single, eight years after their 2014 effort ‘Fake Your Death!’

The new track is called ‘The Foundations of Decay‘ and is a standalone single at the moment, as no upcoming album details have been announced from the band.

Vocalist Gerard Way did tease fans about potential new music on the horizon when he revealed in an interview last year; ‘What’s been working lately is sitting with (engineer) Doug (McKean), working on the music, and then I’ll just go over to my office — which used to be Marion Peck’s painting studio, and I love that room — and I will sit while Doug mixes, tweaks, edits, programs more drums . . . I’ll literally sit there and I will write as close as possible to what I think are gonna be either the final lyrics, or at least what I’m comfortable singing at that moment.’

The lyrics are a dark deep dive into the iconic legacy of the band, also referencing painful events such as 9/11. Even though the meaning of the song is supposedly quite dark, ‘The Foundations of Decay’ also provides hope and positivity for their future endeavours.

My Chemical Romance are also set to embark on a highly anticipated UK/EU tour, starting with two back-to-back dates at the Eden Project in Cornwall on May 16-17. They are then hitting up the Stadium MK in Milton Keynes for three nights, before continuing on to play shows in Dublin, Warrington, Cardiff and finally Glasgow on May 30. They are also set to perform in European cities including Paris, Munich, Warsaw and Berlin. Get your tickets for all UK shows here!

They are also set to head off on a giant tour of North America, beginning in Philadelphia on August 29, before moving on to Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn and Detroit, just to name a few. Additionally, My Chemical Romance are also set to perform a handful of shows in Australia in early 2023.
