Spiritbox have just announced the most exciting thing to come out of 2022 so far – they are releasing a graphic novel!
Following the release of debut album ‘Eternal Blue‘ in September last year, the Canadian metalcore group are now expected to release ‘Eternal Blue: A Graphic Novel’ in June this year with Z2 Comics, with help from writer Jim Krueger and artist Amilcar Pinna.
The band have disclosed some details regarding the upcoming book, with the plotline centring around ‘Eva’, who is ‘a popular painter on the verge of unbelievable acclaim and success, but her inability to reconcile the public perception of who she is, versus her actual self, allows the SPIRITBOX to transport her to a surreal world, where she finds herself trapped in the realm where all our false shadows become real and dangerous.’
Vocalist Courtney LaPlante is said to have been highly involved in the process of the creation of the novel, with the exciting project being almost a year in the making. She spoke of her experience, stating ‘Z2 Comics has made my dreams come true, and together we bring you a story based on my lyrics from our album (‘Eternal Blue’) no matter how much I may try and guard myself, those lyrics will always be a journey through life thus far.’
Courtney continues; ‘This is different though, it’s not just my lyrics and my story, it’s a collaboration with people I admire very much. Together we created this, and I entrusted my lyrics and my vision to them. I am so excited for you to read about Eva and her journey, and to see this world come to life on the page.’
‘Eternal Blue: A Spiritbox Graphic Novel’ is available to pre-order now in both softcover and hardcover editions here!
You can also get your hands on your very own fully functioning Spiritbox, art prints, enamel pins, as well as deluxe versions of the novel, some of which are signed by Courtney LaPlante herself!
