Well this is definitely something we didn’t see coming!

The internet went wild (understandably!) as pop royalty Ed Sheeran was joined by Bring Me the Horizon for a special, one-off performance of his infectious track ‘Bad Habits’ at the BRIT Awards last night (February 8).

‘Bad Habits’ is known to be the lead single from his fifth studio album release ‘=’ last year. The hit single spent a grand total of 11 weeks at No.1 on the official UK Singles Chart, which is absolutely mind blowing.

The track was definitely the undeniable highlight of the evening, sounding fantastic with the added use of guitars, combined with the recognisable screams coming from Bring Me the Horizon’s Oli Sykes.

This more alternative version of ‘Bad Habits’ was the opening performance at the star studded awards ceremony, with the live staging including mysterious fog effects, an electrifying light show, pyrotechnics and the appearance of talented trapeze artists.

Fans of both artists took to social media on the night to express their amazement at the unusual pairing:

This live musical collaboration was certainly unexpected to say the least, however Sheeran has always expressed his love of rock and metal music in the past; ‘I was really into death metal as a kid. I listened to Cradle of Filth and Slipknot and all that stuff,’ he expressed. Sheeran has also previously stated that even though he doesn’t see himself opting to create music like this in the future, he is ‘not opposed to it’.

Bring Me the Horizon are set to go out on tour around Europe, starting off in Kiev, Ukraine on April 4. They are also set to play various festivals in the summer, including Reading & Leeds, Rockfest and Hellfest, not to mention their own festival Malta Weekender.
